Through innovation to world market leadership

Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs, Ilse Aigner, visits data M Sheet Metal Solutions GmbH in Valley.

30 years after the company's inception, all employees were excited about the most distinguished visit in the history of data M. On Mai 31st, State Minister Ilse Aigner got an impression of how strong innovative capacity led the way for our small company to world market leadership. Andreas Hallmannsecker, mayor of Valley, accompanied her on her tour. The visit of a member of the Bavarian government recognises the pioneering efforts of data M in bringing digitalisation and industry 4.0 to the rollforming sector.

After arrival, State Minister Aigner was first greeted by all employees in front of the company building. Afterwards the group proceeded through a small exhibition to the meeting room where Ms Aigner is shown a selection of finished rollformed products like a drawer hinge and flexible metal tubes. CEO Albert Sedlmaier uses his welcoming address to explain the role of data M in the creation of this extensive product range. 'Foremost, we are software developers'. In the area of CAD and simulation software, data M has a market share in excess of 80%.

However, the pervasive move towards intelligent and data-based production has also arrived in rollforming. Through intensive research and in-house developments in the area of control units, sensors as well as data processing, data M actively shapes this transformation process, leading by innovation. The support of the Bavarian government makes a noticeable difference for a small company with limited resources: 'As a small company, we are very happy in Bavaria'.

Thomas Dietl, head of research and development, explains the technical details of recent acitivities, and is also very pleased about a selfie with Ms Aigner. The State Minister is intrigued and praises the role of small and medium-sized companies in Bavaria, which, like data M, provide much employment in the region: 'Thank you for 30 years of innovation'.

The mayor also emphasises that data M was among the first companies to move to the industrial estate and hence provides an important contribution to the good economical standing of the borough. Taking into account the recent research activities, Mr. Hallmannsecker thanks data M for bringing 'more silicon to Valley'.

data M wishes to thank all participants and in particular State Minister Aigner for her visit. A special thank also to our employees who, over the years, have made outstanding contributions to the company.
