Making Shaped Tubes: From Round Tubes or by Direct Forming?

Door or window frames, truck cabin profiles or structural sections – tubes are not always round but exist in various shapes and are used in wide areas of industrial manufacturing.

Generally, shaped tubes can be produced by either direct forming or by forming them from a round mother tube. Each method has its advantages and is suited for different applications. It is hence crucial for tube manufacturers to determine the appropriate forming strategy for their application in order to stand out and to be competitive in the market.

Our upcoming COPRA Virtual Conference #18 is therefore dedicated to the different forming methods for shaped tubes and will provide you with valuable insights to help you choose the most suitable method for your specific application.

TOPICS

Our expert Dhawal Thakkar from data M Software India Pvt.Ltd. will start this session with explaining the two concepts direct forming and shape tube forming in detail. By developing a flower using both methods, you’ll see the differences in a practical environment. After designing the tube’s flower and roll tooling, Dhawal will show you a FEA analysis to demonstrate the results in greater depth. In the following, Dhawal will compare the two forming methods across different aspects like quality, costs and productivity and highlight the advantages and disadvantages of each method.

After the presentation, our team will gladly answer any questions you may have.
