COPRA FEA RF behind the Scenes: Smarter Simulations with Mapping Technology

The COPRA Virtual Conference offers a great platform to give you interesting behind the scenes insights into the development of COPRA FEA RF - data M´s numerical analysis software specially tailored for the roll forming industry.

In a series of presentations within this conference format, our experts invite you to take a glimpse into their latest developments and the driving motivation behind them.

Topics

Session 3 will focus on one of the latest technologies data M´s experts have been working on – Mapping.

Mapping technology allows for a smarter use of our software and is the base for many of our new features.

The initial motivation was using it to export roll forming simulation results to other numerical packages, which can then be used in subsequent forming steps or even crash simulations. However, this technology is opening many doors and creating opportunities for the developments of many of our newest features.

In this presentation we will be discussing several features that make use of this technology and show how you will benefit from it in your daily use of COPRA FEA RF.

Presenter

  • Dr. Thomas Dietl has been working in Research and Development at data M Sheet Metal Solutions GmbH since 1997. He focuses on the development of innovative control technology and finite element simulation for roll forming. Since his studies in aerospace engineering at the Technical University of Munich, he has been intensively involved with hexapods, a special form of parallel kinematic machine, and numerical mathematics. He gained his first experience as a graduate engineer in the automotive industry at BMW in Munich. Afterwards he received his PhD in France in 1996 on the topic of numerical modeling of multiphase materials. He is married, has 3 children and lives in Munich.
