Latest COPRA Software Developments Inspired by 3D Roll Forming

When data M started as a Spin-off of the TU Munich in 1987, the proximity to research and development laid the foundation for our future business success.

Through the involvement in many R&D projects, we use the strong synergies between research and the roll forming industry to boost our customer’s competitiveness with new innovative products.

In his 20-minutes presentation simulation engineer Johann Harraßer will show you how our customers profit from our application-oriented research approach using the example of latest COPRA Software Developments Inspired by 3D Roll Forming.

As a project member in the BMWK’s joint project FlexHyBat* you will hear first-hand from Johann how our research has contributed to new software features in COPRA.

This project required new CAE tools that can also be applied for profiles with variable cross sections such as a 3D simulation pre-processor for automatic simulation model building that also takes the kinematics of the 3D roll forming line into account.

Your will learn, what benefits you can get from these developments as a “normal” COPRA user, how these developments contribute to our COPRA EcoSystem and make 3D Roll Forming “democratic”.

At the end of the presentation, we are happy to answer your questions again during out 10-minutes Q&A session.

*The "FlexHyBat" research project has the backing of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, and is being supervised by TÜV Rheinland Consulting GmbH, the project sponsor.

  • Johann Harraßer

Johann Harraßer first started his career in 2000 with an apprenticeship as metal worker (construction technology). Later he studied mechanical engineering at the TU in Munich where he graduated from in 2011 as Dipl.-Ing. In the same year Johann joined our team as simulation engineer. In this role he covers numerous tasks such as software development (COPRA FEA RF), simulation of special processes (welding, wire rolling), he works in development projects for the digitalization of RF equipment, CAE based design of 3D RF systems, commissioning of 3D RF systems and application of COPRA RF and COPRA FEA RF within service projects. Johann also participates regularly in technical conferences in the field of sheet metal forming and roll forming and runs trainings and workshops for our clients.
