Meet Albert Sedlmaier in Melbourne in March 2024!

Join Albert Sedlmaier for the iddrg Conference 2024 in Australia!

From March 11-14 2024 the renowned "International Deep Drawing Research Group" iddrg will be holding a conference in Melbourne, Australia hosted by Deakin University.

If you are involved in sheet metal forming, ranging from battery electrode pressing to stamping of automotive parts, then this is the conference you should attend.

The theme of the conference is “Forming for a sustainable future”. Your experience in this area will make a valuable contribution to this outstanding event – regardless if you present a paper or participate as a delegate in various discussion groups: Talk with researchers, academics or industry professionals from around the world!

Melbourne used to be the home of Australian Automotive Industry. Holden (General Motors) and Toyota Motor Corporation (Australia) had manufacturing and engineering based in Melbourne, while Ford Motor Company Australia manufacturing used to be centered in nearby Geelong since the 1920s. Ford Australia still designs, engineers and tests the Ranger platform from Melbourne. Melbourne remains the base for large manufacturers, such as Boeing and Kenworth PACCAR.

The Institute for Frontier Materials, Deakin University at Deakin University is a world leading materials science research institute focusing on redesigning materials for a circular economy and imparting materials with extraordinary functionality. It has extensive knowledge on sheet metal forming technology and operates the world’s only robot driven roll forming machine for producing 3D RF profiles in various shapes that combine variations in width and depth over the length of the part: https://blogs.deakin.edu.au/roll-forming/frf/ (COPRA 3D RollformingCenter® developed and made by data M Sheet Metal Solutions GmbH.
The organizers are planning a special ‘mini symposium’ aimed at advanced manufacturing with a strong focus on roll forming and flexible (3D) roll forming technologies.

Our MD Albert Sedlmaier has the pleasure to present a paper at this conference underscoring the pivotal role of CAE techniques in unraveling the art of roll forming, presenting a holistic view of its applications and advancements. As industries seek efficient and sustainable manufacturing solutions, roll forming with CAE integration emerges as a compelling option, poised to shape the future of metal forming and engineering design.

If you are thinking about sending your short  abstract to the organizers please note the abstract submission deadline of the 1st September 2023.
