P2-P8 - COPRA FEA RF Parallel Options

Option to COPRA FEA RF

If a complex roll form process is being simulated, the calculation time can be quite long. In order to reduce the simulation time, you have the possibility to distribute the calculation to more than one processor at the same time.

As you will find in the picture it is clearly possible to reduce the calculation time significantly by using more than one processor. Every processor takes over the calculation of a part of the strip. Using two processors the amount of elements which is to be calculated can be halved. So the calculation time can be reduced theoretically by 75%. Unfortunately there exists a certain administration effort which occurs when parallelising the calculation and which shoots down the gain of time partially. Of course, the saving in time depends for example on the model type or on the element distribution and therefore adheres to certain variations.

Overview of Parallel Options

Parallel_2 Option
Allows distributing of a simulation onto 2 processors.
With this option, a reduction in calculation time of approximately 40% can be achieved on average.

Parallel_4 Option
Allows distributing of a simulation onto 4 processors.
With this option, a reduction in calculation time of approximately 65% can be achieved on average.

Parallel_6 Option
This allows distributing a simulation on 6 processors in order to reduce the calculation time.
A reduction of the calculation time about 75% can be achieved on average.

Parallel_8 Option
Allows distributing of a simulation onto 8 processors.
With this option, a reduction in calculation time of approximately 80% can be achieved on average.

Parallel_12 Option
Allows distributing of a simulation onto 12 processors.

Parallel_16 Option
Allows distributing of a simulation onto 16 processors.

A parallel license does not allow you to calculate more than one simulation at the same time and can only be used in combination with a valid COPRA FEA RF license.
